Left Paris for Normandy

Today we checked out of our dear little Hotel Amelie in Paris to catch a train to Reuon in Normandy which is north of Paris. I left an artwork at the breakfast area there for someone to find.

We caught the train at Gare St Lazare and whizzed on up north to Reuon. The scenery was mostly of a lush green valley. Once again I left an artwork.

After a comedy of errors we found the bus stop to take us to the car rental in Reuon and after a few more errors found our hotel but didn’t check in. Rather we headed straight for Giverny the home of Claude Monet and his famous water lily pond. The garden by the house was spectacular with climbing roses and the biggest onion flowers I have ever seen!

Truly inspiring though, was the water lily pond. Some of my photos of the pond even look like Monet’s paintings with the amazing play of light on the water.

We also walked through his house with Monet’s studio being the most interesting Room. In it hung many of his paintings. The room had many windows looking out into his garden. Looks like he had a pretty nice life.

I enjoyed being able to look up close to his paintings in his studio.
